"But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life." Romans 6:22
Father, when temptations arise, when the enemy seeks to lure me back with the memories of the fleeting pleasures that sin once offered, remind me of the bondage those sins brought. Remind me how You, in Your mercy and grace, delivered me from that slavery and set me free—not to do as I please, but to live for You. For I have been bought with a price, the precious blood of Jesus Christ, demonstrating Your immense love for me. I was never truly free under sin; it was a lie from the enemy to make me believe I was free to do as I wished. But in reality, sin had enslaved me, binding me to a path that led only to death.
But now, by Your grace, I am no longer a slave to sin; I have become a servant of God, and this new servitude brings life—true, everlasting life. You have not freed me so that I can return to the same chains, but so that I can serve You, the Master who leads to life. The joy and peace I experience when I walk in obedience to You is beyond compare. Help me not to look back longingly at the things of my past, as the Israelites did when they yearned for the onions and leeks of Egypt, forgetting the harsh bondage they endured (Numbers 11:5). Instead, may I follow You, my Joshua, into the promised land, taking ground over the already defeated enemy who lingers.
Let my life be like the fruit of the land, offered up to You in worship and for Your glory. In this, I find peace and rest in You, yet I know the journey is not over. Strengthen me to continue fighting the good fight by Your strength and under Your command, being sanctified and set apart for You. Transform me from glory to glory, into the image of Christ, until that day when You return, and as part of Your body, I will be glorified to Your glory for all eternity (2 Corinthians 3:18).
Father, let me never forget that I am Yours. Help me to live out this truth daily, serving You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength, as I await the fulfillment of Your promises and the eternal life You have given me in Christ Jesus, my Lord.
